There is an error / check engine light
What causes it?
Errors or check engine lights (CEL) can be caused during the installation process. If the car was not fully powered off before unplugging the connectors, the car can create and store error codes, which can also cause a check engine light.
The fix
In order to resolve this you will need to clear and delete the codes using an OBD-II scan tool, then the engine light should not come back. Please be sure to check the date of the code as sometimes the codes do not clear and could be an old code appearing still, so you need to be sure the codes are cleared properly otherwise it can linger.
Things to check:
- If the valve works as normal (opens and closes) with the controller off, then it should be installed correctly. Otherwise, check that all connectors are firmly in place and the locking tabs are pressed in and locked. Confirm that the exhaust controller works and take note of when the warning light appears (for example when the controller is on, off or either).
- If all connectors are plugged in correctly, remove the exhaust controllers and check for warning lights. If they are still present, then there may be another problem with the valve system that will need to be sorted before using the exhaust controller system.
- For two valved exhaust systems, try installing only one of the two controllers and rechecking for errors, while taking note of the error code and which side (left or right). If the error occurs on the side without the controller installed, then there is another issue causing the error.
